One can figure out a lot of things about people by noticing their food habits, like how people who get food delivered a lot are relatively lazier when compared to people who cook their own food. Today's blog is solely dedicated to the traditional food of Odisha.
People in Odisha tend to consume a lot of food cooked without oil. The food there is also less spicy than the food in the rest of India. India is typically known for spicy food but Odisha stands out by having mostly non spicy food which are delicious nonetheless. Odisha does, however, cooperate with the rest of India when it comes to rice. Rice is the staple food of people from Odisha. Theyprefer to use ghee over oil. There is also an extensive use of curd (or dahi) in Odia food.
A lot of people in Odisha follow traditional, religious cooking. They used to consume food on banana leaves instead of plates in old times. Cooks in Odisha were much sought after because they cooked in accordance to the Hindu scriptures. This made people look up to them. Puri in Odisha is a religious place which accommodates the ideas of Hindu mythology excessively. It is considered to be the place where God comes to eat food. Hence, food and devotion go hand in hand in this fascinating place. Every day, there are more than 55 varieties of food prepared and served in Puri as prashaadam to the people who have come to praise God.
