Important vaccinations

"Vaccines are the tugboats of preventive health" - William Foege

We were all afraid of injections in our childhood and hence afraid of vaccines too. But most of us still had to get it done. No matter how much we cried or screamed or threw a temper tantrum, we just HAD to get vaccinated. Have you ever wondered why it was necessary to get vaccines instead of just letting your immune system deal with it? Well, vaccines are actually substances used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against certain diseases. They are prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products or synthetic substitutes, treated to induce an immune response without inducing a disease in the body.

Vaccines are extremely important and they should be administered in childhood to prevent the children from getting those diseases. Vaccines help improve the child's immune system. With the help of vaccines, children can play more and stay mentally and physically fit. Vaccination is truly a lifesaving measure.

The vaccines children should take before turning 10 are Chicken Pox, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping cough, Haemophilus influenzae type B, Hepatitis A and B, Influenza, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Meningococcal, Pneumococcal, Polio and Rotavirus. It might seem like a lot of medicines, but these are extremely important. A child's immunity system is weaker than that of an adult and must be strengthened through these means. If you missed any of your vaccinations, it is imperative to get it done as soon as possible. Live healthy, my friends.
