DIET FOOD MAY HARM HEALTH

 

The present generation has a very different perspective towards diet food. Commonly to be healthy and fit, they cut many food items from their meal and consume only few diet foods thinking it helps in having healthy mind and body. But diet food is not as healthy as we think. Less fat, less calorie and less carbohydrate food may seem to be healthy but in a long run, it can be the reason for gaining weight.

The diet foods available in market are harmful to our body in many aspects. These are few diet foods which in reality is harmful to our body:

SMOOTHIES, PROTEIN SHAKES

Nowadays people who follow diet are more into smoothies and protein shakes. To avoid hunger for long duration, it is consumed. Some of the shakes are rich in protein but the contents of sugar and calories will be more in it. It may contain around 400 calories and hence can prove bad for health.

YOGURT 

Curd is good for health. It is useful in maintaining healthy digestive system. But in some of the yogurt, lactobacillus (bacteria) won’t be present. To reduce the calorie, fat content is reduced. Food companies add sugar to enhance the flavor of the yogurt.  Due to the addition of sugar, the point of reducing weight won’t be satisfied.

DRY FRUITS

Dry fruits contain dietary fibers, vitamins, minerals, proteins etc. But still, dry fruits are sweeter than the fresh fruits. As sugar increases the calorie content, fresh fruits serve better for the good health.

PACKED DIET FOODS

Diet cookies, chips or any of the food items available in the packets are not good for health. Diet food contains preservatives, unhealthy fats and artificial sweeteners. Hence, it is not good for fit and healthy body.

DIET SODA

There is a false assumption that diet soda helps in reducing weight. But it increases the sugar content in the blood and also increases the blood pressure. It may even harm the bacteria’s present in digestive system.

ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS 

There is a fashion of using artificial sweeteners instead of sugar. But its usage is not good for health. This may even result in gaining weight. Its better avoiding sugar instead of using artificial sweeteners.

PROTEIN BARS

Protein bars are consumed for achieving instant energy. All the protein bars are not unhealthy. But some of the bars contain more calorie and artificial sweeteners in it. So, there is a need to be careful while selecting one.
