MERRY CHRISTMAS
The important and popular festival of winter solstice marks
the birth of holy Jesus Christ also known as the son of God on 25th
December celebrated worldwide as Christmas according to the Gregorian calendar.
It is a festival having universal appeal and celebrated by people of all
religions with a feeling of happiness and equality. There are many folklore related
to it, the traditional narrative behind these Christmas celebrations is that Jesus' parents,
Joseph and Mary arrived at the city of Bethlehem but had no lodgings. They
were confined to a stable in an inn, which is where Jesus was born. This
traditional narrative is known as The Nativity of Jesus.
People decorate their homes with colorful
lights and a Christmas tree with all lit up with beautiful lights. A Christmas tree is a decorated tree, usually an evergreen conifer, such as spruce, pine or fir, or an artificial
tree of similar appearance, associated with the celebration of this festival.
According to some sources, it is said that the Christmas tree is a symbol of Christ.
Sweets are prepared and exchanged with
family and friends, Christmas carols are sung and it is a special excitement
for kids, as they desperately wait for the whole year for Santa Claus to come
on this day and bring them surprises as gifts and presents for which they hang
the Christmas stocking to be filled with small toys, candies and many more
things.
