Jharkhand Foundation Day

The state of Jharkhand in India is rich in the aspects of culture and nature. It is traditionally known as "The land of the forest" due to the immense number of trees and vegetation there. It is present in northeastern India and shares it's borders with Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and West Bengal. There are multiple languages spoken in this area including Hindi, Bengali, Nagpuri and such which is somewhat typical of a state in India.

Although it is a separate and pretty wonderful state now, it might be surprising to not that it wasn't always this way. Jharkhand used to be a part of the southern half of Bihar. It was actually cut out of Bihar. The tribals in Bihar wished for a separate state for themselves to be free and live among their own. According to history, the tribals did not receive much socioeconomic benefit after independence and sources claim that this might be one of the reasons why they wanted to separate themselves from the rest of Bihar and become their own people. Jharkhand consists of Chotta Nagpur Plateau and Santhal Pargana. The Chotta Nagpur Plateau was originally in Bihar but this region was separated on the 15th November, 2000 to form the state of Jharkhand. Hence, this day has been known as the Jharkhand Foundation Day ever since.
