Must have winter grubs

Chilly winters not only affect our wardrobe and our electricity bill but also our energy levels, metabolism and the foods we prefer. Although there are fewer food items in this season than summer, winter possesses its own fare. Here are 5 healthy grubs that you should be eating this winter.

1. Fruits to the rescue.

Citrus fruits, including lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruit, are at their juiciest in the wintertime and can add sunshine to the dreary winter. Also, Citrus fruits are loaded with vitamin C. Pomegranate juice is rich in antioxidants. And from a heart-health perspective, it is probably a good thing.

2. Boil your food!

Boiled food is one of the best options in winter. Have plenty of soup, stews and broths made of winter foods. Carrots, beets, green leafy vegetables and other root-based vegetables are extremely beneficial and can be had steamed or otherwise.

3. Go nuts!

Dry fruits are a must have for the winters. Cashews, pista, almonds, walnuts - you name it, you eat it! Not only do they help generate heat within the body, they also give you the energy needed to fight winter laziness.
