MYSORE: THE HERITAGE CITY AND ITS FAMOUS FOOD DISHES

Even though the population is high, it still grabs the 5th place in the list of cleanest city in India. It is also one of the highly visited tourist spot known for its heritage structures, culture, palaces, temple, zoo, KRS dam, Chamundi hills, festivities that takes place during the Dassehra and lot more.
Mysore also has various other names like garden city, city of palaces, Ashtanga city (Ashtanga means eight limbs of yoga) and also as one of the oldest city.
Apart from all these Mysore is also known for its delicious and unique food that you may not find anywhere else in the world. Some of the famous well known dishes for breakfast are Idli-Vada, Khara bath- Kesari-bath, Uttapham, Shavige bath, Masala Dosa, and lot more. Some of the rice dishes that are famous are Bisibele bath, Chitranna, Vangi bath, Hanumanthu Paluo. And off course a typical south Indian thali for lunch containing Sambar, Huli (type of sambar), Rassam, Pappad, Sweets, Buttermilk, Curd and Pickle.snacks like churmuri, kara shev, kajjaya, chigali, tambittu, belada hannina panaka, chiroti, kobari mithayi, chakli, avalakki puri unde, mysore bonda, hurigalu, amboDe etc.
Mysore have a delicious dessert called Mysore Pak. It’s the most famous sweet not just in mysore but also all over world. Mysore Pak as its own story, the Maharaja of Mysore, Shree Krishnaraja Wodeyar (1884-1940), was a food connoisseur and maintained a large kitchen at the Amba Vilas palace in mysore. The chief chef Kakasura Madappa, who never had prepared a dessert and wanted to impress the king. Adding gram flour, ghee and sugar made a soft pak (or mixture). This was presented on the royal thali to the king. The king was very much impressed and called the chef and asked for the dish name. Chef said the first thing that came to his mind “Mysore Pak”.
