Indian food is a perfect  blend of varied herbs and spices and is known for its exoctic flavor,aroma and taste . It's quite popular and has great varieties that come from different cultures . Every single spice used in indian dishes have great nutritional and curative effects.


Over the last few years some foods have gained the label called ‘superfoods’ which are mostly international foods,they are considered to be rich in antioxidants,fatty acids,and omega3 . With the shifting focus on eating healthy and staying fit ,people are now inclining towards superfoods  and are forgetting the native food ,which is probably much better than the superfoods.  With the augmentation of brands with non stop marketing people are made to believe what’s been told and they are ready to buy these expensive products.


So here are the few indigenous foods that are equivalent to the foreign foods ,that come with much lesser cost and  have same nutritional benefits 


South mexican chia seeds can be replaced by Indian basil seeds which look and behave exactly like chia seeds ,both of them have the same nutritional  value ,they are good sources of vitamins,iron , sugar and facilitate the blood flow .


Indian moringa is similar to  japanese matcha powder , is rich in calcium,protein and fibre ,which can be found effortlessly in any food market 


Indian Amaranth also known as ramdana is considered to be finer than Aztec  Quinoa with an inflated amount of calcium,iron fibre and zinc besides it’s pocket friendly.


Indian Amla is a substitute to its Amazonian counterpart Amazon Acai Berry,as both possess anti-ageing and weight loss properties with Amla having high percentages of vitamins and antioxidants. 


Local regional oils over Olive oil ,The virgin coconut oil that is available in every household has great antimicrobial properties and converts bad fats into good fats,Peanut oil is free from trans fats and cholesterol ,mustard oil is rich in minerals.



The popular Chinese Ginseng is equivalent to India’s Ashwagandha which helps in healing wounds and strengthens our body ,furthermore it’s economical and is safe for consumption over a long period of time. 



Oats has become quite popular over the years in India ,but have you heard of gujarat's buckwheat,the oats equivalent is a good source of protein and potassium ,contains all eight amino acids alongside improves the gut health
