Jan Aushadi Diwas

Jan Aushadi Diwas is celebrated on the 7th of March; it was started by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 7th March 2019.

Its aim is to create awareness of the use of generic medicines. It is a part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Pariyojana (PMJAP) the scheme which was launched by Shri Narendra Modi, on July 1st, 2015.

Under this scheme, the prices of medicines are reduced to lower then its market prices and the same medical stores under the name of Jan Aushadi Stores are being set up.

It mainly focuses on the easy availability of generic medicines at affordable costs to all the strata of society and ensuring that no shortage is felt.

This scheme is also focused on making quality health care affordable. This initiative has also helped in bringing down the pocket expenses of middle-class families to ensuring the availability of generic medicines for life-threatening diseases.

It has also enabled substantial savings in health care, in case of families who had patients suffering from long term chronic illness.

We are thankful to our Prime Minister Shri Modiji, for this step taken to safeguard the health interest of the common man.
